"Fruit Basket Still A Nice Gift"

So in the 80's a big gift for Christmas was fruit baskets as I use to work in a grocery store and every year they made so many fruit baskets and they all solid out every year. On my travel over the years I have not seen any fruit baskets in grocery stores at all over the holidays. So I have to ask does a fruit basket still make a nice Christmas gift or is it a true bad idea like bad fruit?.
